At a concert of exploding balloons
a small girl
eyes wide with wonderment.
she watches the merry-go-round
its a carnival
of colors, lights, music
chipping plastic horses,
and flaking majestic lions.
it spins round and round
as the menagerie of plastic animals
dip up and down.
the merry-go-round is a joyous romp
for this young girl,
whose world is a zoo of chaos
